Gregg Allman - Come And Go Blues

by L.H. on November 11, 2008

Gregg Allman performing Come And Go Blues.
Guitar tuning: DGDGBD
Guitar Tab: http://onecuts.com/music/tab/come_and_go_blues_tab.html
Its quite possibly the finest acoustic version he ever recorded. The lush sea saw rhythmic echoes of the guitar coupled with the gritty yet over powering bellow of his voice as it comes and goes, sums up to a great combination of experience , timing and deep emotion which leads to inevitable perfection. Even with the obvious chord mishap towards the bridge of the song, it rings true and pure. Full of what really makes a great performance of an given song!

Gregg is quoted with this saying: “Women are here to make it in bed then to make the bed”

Greg looks like he had grade A weed during this recording. He sounds like it too…in a good way I mean..deep and focused..fuckin’ baked and in another world.

Zakk’s cool also, I love his work, but theres something about Gregg that makes his work 100 times better. I can never get enough of the old tunes!

one of the sexiest men alive in his time completely captivating, soulful and he understands his woman.

if you were to play the harp along with this, is it in A?

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

One word: FANTASTIC !

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

But he plays it in Open D I think , so then it should be tuned like that.

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

I play it in Drop D tuning so I am pretty sure you should tune it that way first.

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

It sounds very similar like Going To California by Led Zeppelin.

2 words “Beautiful” & I forget the second word. Lord how I miss this kind of art. I wish there was more like it in these days and times. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Thanks a lot for explaining the chord! It will really polish off the sound I got. I should really record a version of it on my beast of a Martin and post it as a response! Ive been able to play this since after I first heard it about 2 years ago now.

Lush sounding song to play. Just wish I had the time and a quite room to practice singing like he does!!!

Thanks again for the chord man.

some times he just plucks the notes all at the same time after he does the pull off thing

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

after the the pull off part the chord at 1 19 is d string 3rd fret, high g string 5th fret, b string 6th fret. the notes of the chord are F C f. look how he does the chord shape with his hand. you just finger pick straight down the three notes. hope that helps. im still trying to figure out the tab thing

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

You got me thinking about, tab and that chord at 1:19 now. I am desperate to find it!

But, again, if you wanted to add your tab to the linked tab? I would be very happy to. I would credit you for it, of course!

Anonymous 11.11.08 at 12:56 am

Does anyone know the chord at 1:19??

Please can someone direct me to a tab with it on? please please please!

Cheers
AG
