Jojo Mayer (born 18 January 1963) is a famous drummer from Switzerland who brings together jazz, drum and bass, jungle, and other influences. He lives in New York City. He is famous for his ability to play the rhythms of programmed jungle drum ‘n’ bass music on acoustic drums. He terms this “reverse engineering”, a phrase borrowed from computing. He executes this approach using methods including the Moeller technique, specifically the pull-out accent, “push-pull” (also called “open-close”) which takes the beat on the rebound. Using this technique he can play beats at astonishing speeds. One of his main influences is Buddy Rich. He is the founder of the Prohibited Beatz clique in the NYC underground live music scene. [edit] Media He was featured as the cover story of the January 2008 issue of Modern Drummer magazine. His DVD, [[Secret Weapons for the Modern Drummer]], is a bestseller worldwide. [edit] Gear Mayer is a long-time Sonor endorser and also uses Sabian cymbals. Mayer has also collaborated with Sabian to create a series of cymbals is Sabians top-tier Vault line. These are called Fierce cymbals and consist of hi-hats, rides, and crash cymbals.

Fiach singing “Stop” Live on TG4 www.fiach.net Fiach is a 24 year old Dubliner, well respected and loved within the Irish music scene for his beautiful songwriting, exceptional voice and fantastic guitar playing. He is fondly known as the ‘Hardest Working Artist in Ireland’, but it was his talent that found him sharing the stage with the cream of Irish artists such as Damien Dempsey, Kila, Freddie White, Declan O’ Rourke, Finbar Furey, Mundy, Damien Rice, bellx1, Luka Bloom and Paddy Casey, who coincidentally said that Fiach’s song ‘Dignity’ was the best song he heard in 2005. Fiach is known for his humourous and honest live shows and his raw approach to his music, often bringing guests on stage to openly jam; but it’s his voice that really hits home…it is full with expression and control, some times hard and coarse to direct his agression on political and social issues, then suddenly wrapped around you with soft lyrics and breathy tones in his seeringly confessional lyrics. His concerts are where this young artist shines, always unpredictable, and always a very special event. Up to now, Fiach has been steady on the gig circuit, playing festivals in France, Holland, New York and Scotland as well as gracing every top venue in Ireland, so it is only a matter of time before he is playing at a venue near you…so check out a gig and see what the Dublin music scene has been quietly hiding, and what it soon will be able to hide no more. www.myspace.com/fiachmusic

Debate I had with John Potash regarding the death of rapper Tupac Shakur. Potash thinks that “the government” enacted, in his words, “a huuuugee US intelligence network” consisting of “fifteen-plus agencies” to kill Tupac. Of course, this high-level operation, according to him, only took five years and six tries. Few things I noticed. I had someone in the studio on the phone who is more tolerant of conspiracy theories than me, and didnt challenge John……….John severely kept wanting to talk to Larry, and not to me. Also, when I could contradict something John said, there would be a pause, and he would jump to another subject. I have his book, and I find it incredibly unconvincing. As he said in this debate, as he does in his book, he relies on two people: Kevin Hackie and Russell Poole….. Regarding Kevin Hackie, here are two articles I wrote about him a few years ago….. www.thuglifearmy.com www.thuglifearmy.com Most importantly, I interviewed him over a year ago……here is a transcript……… Batey: He [Reginald Wright] wanted me to ask you if you still think he has anything to do with Tupac’s death” Hackie: “I’ll say this much: The Metro Police, they have no more interest in the case; they do have independent statements that corroborate that Orlando was the shooter. So at this point in time, no. I don’t really even care about it anymore. But no - to answer your question.” Furthermore, Kevin Hackie was quoted even in books suggesting a conspiracy (by Suge …
